Thursday, May 14, 2009

The game between the Lipscomb Bisons and ETSU Buccaneers has been suspended until 3 p.m. Friday due to problems with bad weather at Cardinal Stadium in Johnson City, Tenn., Thursday night.

The Bisons were ahead 4-3 in the fifth when the game was called. They scored three runs in the third inning and one in the fifth. M.L. Williams hit a home run. Tennyson Dodd extended his hitting streak to 13 games, tying Justin Sanders to longest hitting streak this season.

Junior left-hander Rex Brothers struck out five in four innings. He walked one and gave up five hits.

ETSIU had the potential tying run on second with one out.

Thirty minutes after the end of the suspended game, the Bisons and Buccaneers will play again.

The three-game Atlantic Sun series ends Saturday at noon. It is the regular season Atlantic Sun finale for both teams.

The series has postseason implications for both teams. The Bisons, losers of their last two games, can be the No. 2, No. 3 or No. 4 seed in the Atlantic Sun Tournament based on their record in this series. ETSU is one of three teams battling for the No. 6 seed.
