NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Returning home after a five-game road trip against three teams that have a combined record of 68-16, the Lipscomb baseball team hosts Atlantic Sun Conference foe USC Upstate in a three game set at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium beginning on Friday night at 6 p.m.
Lipscomb (10-20, 2-4 A-Sun) returns to campus with senior righty Josh Cotham set to get the starting nod in Friday night’s contest against the Spartans (17-11, 4-5 A-Sun). Righthander Brandon Lee is slated to start for Upstate with a 4-3 mark and a 3.04 ERA.
Saturday’s tilt will see a battle between Lipscomb righty Hunter Brothers and USC Upstate southpaw David Roseboom. Fresh off a win over Florida Gulf Coast, Brothers enters the weekend with a 3-3 mark and a 6.54 ERA. Roseboom boasts a 5-1 record and a 3.83 ERA.
The series is set to wrap up on Sunday afternoon as LU righthander Will Blalock goes up against fellow righty Gaither Bumgardner. Blalock is 0-2 on the season with a 4.62 ERA while Bumgardner is 3-0 with a 4.12 ERA.
The all-time series between the two schools is tied 6-6 with each team holding a 5-1 record on its home turf.
