BUIES CREEK, N.C. _ Campbell was held to only two hits, but that would be all they needed in a 3-2 win against the Lipscomb Bisons Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field.
The Bisons won one of the three games in the Atlantic Sun Conference series.
The Bisons jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Zac Miller reached base on a walk to start the inning. He moved to second on a one-out single to the shortstop by Jeff Baumgartner. Patrick O'Rourke grounded out to the shortstop to advance Miller to third and Baumgartner to second. Miller scored on a balk by Campbell pitcher Quinn LeSage.
Campbell took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning.
The Bisons came back to tie the game at 2-2 in the top of the sixth with one run, a solo homer run by Miller to left field to lead off the inning.
Campbell came back in the bottom of the sixth with the go-ahead run.
LeSage, 3-2, picked up the win for Campbell. He gave up six of the Bisons seven hits and both runs. Ryan Hamme earned the save for Campbell, his third of the year.
Josh Smith, 3-4, pitched the second complete game of the series for the Bisons. He struck out four and walked five. Only one of the three runs he allowed was earned as the Bisons committed three errors.
The Bisons are 17-19 overall, 8-10 in the conference. Campbell is 13-23, 8-10 in the A-Sun.
The Bisons travel to Tennessee-Martin Wednesday for a 3 p.m. game.
