After an explosive offense brought Lipscomb a 13-10 game one win against East Tennessee State University on Saturday, April 14, Taylor Merry's dominant complete game effort in game two, gave the Bisons' their first conference sweep of the season.

In game one, after falling behind 3-0 after one inning, the Bisons' quickly responded with six runs of their own in the second. The inning was highlighted by RBI hits from Allen Bolden and Caleb Joseph.

However, the Bucs rallied, scoring a run in the second and fourth, and two in the fifth to retake the lead, 7-6.

The Bisons battled back with two runs of their own in the sixth to take a short-lived 8-7 lead. Ben Williams and Shane Simpkins recorded RBI hits in the inning.

The Bucs, once again, retook the lead with two runs in the bottom of the inning, and increased their lead to 10-8 with another run in the seventh.

The Bisons', however, used five hits and an error to plate five runs in the eight to bring the score to 13-10, the final. Simpkins homered in the inning, while Ryan Wilkins and Branden Cadavid added RBI extra-base hits.

The Bisons' starter, Rex Brothers, lasted 4.2 innings, giving up seven runs, five earned, on eight hits while striking out four in the no-decision. He was relieved by Brandon McClurg with two outs in the fifth.

McClurg went on to finish the game out for the Bisons, giving up three runs, two earned, in 4.1 innings. With the win, he improved to 4-1 on the season.

In game two, the Bisons wasted no time getting on the board, jumping out to an early 2-0, first inning lead.

With one out, Simpkins singled through the right side. Joseph followed with a double to center, bringing Simpkins all the way around to give the Bisons a 1-0 lead. With two outs, Casey Bond doubled to center also, plating Joseph for a quick two runs.

The Bisons' starter, right-hander, Taylor Merry was on top of his game from the first pitch, holding the Bucs scoreless until the eighth, when they finally broke through for their only run.

Meanwhile, the Bisons' scoring continued. The Bisons' added three runs in the fifth to increase their lead to 5-0. With one out, Andrew Nickerson doubled to left. After Bolden was hit by a pitch, Nickerson advanced to third on a wild pitch, while Bolden stole second. Williams followed with a perfect bunt single to the pitcher, scoring Nickerson, and putting runners on first and third. Bolden would score on a throwing error by the Bucs catcher while Simpkins would bring home the final run of the inning on an RBI double.

The Bisons would score another run in the seventh on an RBI single by Casey Bond.

The game was called after eight innings due to rain. In a complete game effort, Merry allowed just one earned run on five hits in eight innings of work, while striking out ten. With the win, he improved to 2-0 on the season.

The Bisons return home to take on Vanderbilt University in a single game on Tuesday, April 17 at 6 p.m.
