Messer named Southeast Region Player of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After being named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week on Monday, Lipscomb senior second baseman Zak Messer has been named CollegeBaseballInsider.com’s Southeast Region Player of the Week as well as being named the A-Sun Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com.

Leading the Bison to the first-ever sweep of Mercer, the Bristol, Va., native hit .538 from the plate including two doubles, a triple and a pair of home runs leading to being named the top performer last week in the Southeast region that encompasses the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Big South Conference, the Mid-Eastern Conference, the Southeastern Conference, the Southwest Conference, the Sun Belt Conference and the A-Sun.

Messer is tied atop the A-Sun in doubles (12) and ranks second in total bases (71).  The senior also ranks in the top five in the conference in RBI (26) and home runs (7).
