NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Following a strong second half of the 2012 season, Lipscomb junior southpaw Chris Nunn was taken as the 735th pick in the 24th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the San Diego Padres.
“Chris has all of the tools be a Major League pitcher,” said Lipscomb head coach Jeff Forehand. “We’re excited for him and to see what the future holds.”
The Memphis native opened a lot of eyes when he shutout Campbell’s high-octane offense in an eight-inning relief appearance in April. Nunn was later featured in May on ESPN’s Sportscenter with a top-10 play with a behind-the-back stab against Jacksonville.
Nunn is the 11th Atlantic Sun Conference player selected in the 2012 draft.
