FALL PRACTICE UNDERWAY FOR PURPLE AND GOLD
The Lipscomb baseball team opened fall practice this week with a pair of marquee events on their slate. After participating in “Scout Day” at E.S. Rose Park on Wednesday afternoon, the Bisons spent time on Thursday afternoon with Lt. Trey Robinson, U.S. Air Force flight commander on the proper way to stand at attention during the national anthem and the respect that should be shown.
Fall practice continues for the squad into October culminating with the three-day “World Series” set for Oct. 23-25 at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium.
TRIO OF RETURNEES HONORED BY PERFECT GAME
Redshirt pitcher sophomore Hunter Brothers, redshirt hurler freshman Will Blalock and sophomore first baseman Griffin Moore have been honored by PerfectGame.org as one of the top-30 prospects in their respective summer leagues. Brothers was ranked the 23rd best prospect in the aptly named Prospect League while Blalock came in at No. 29 on the list. Moore capped off an impressive season in the Atlantic League by being named the 14th-best prospect. All three earned midseason all-star team honors as well.
“When we put those guys in the summer leagues we’re hoping that they’re development continues,” said Lipscomb head coach Jeff Forehand. “We’re hopeful that their great summers will translate into them making a bigger contributions in the spring.”
ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT/FAMILY WEEKEND SET
The Bisons will host the annual fall golf tournament fundraiser on Friday, Oct. 12 at the Legends Golf Club in Franklin. Registration for the event is $150. The event is scheduled to begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Family day will be the following day at Dugan Field. Events include an intra-squad scrimmage as well as father-son batting practice at Dugan Field.
