NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Fresh off a thrilling extra-inning win over Western Kentucky on Wednesday night, the Lipscomb baseball team returns home this weekend to open Atlantic Sun Conference play against North Florida at Ken Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium on Friday night at 6 p.m.
The Ospreys (16-7, 0-0 A-Sun) make their longest trip of the season this weekend for the three-game set in the Music City that marks the conference openers for both teams. The Bisons (8-14, 0-0 A-Sun) enter Friday night’s tilt with a 5-4 record in league openers.
Sporting a 2-2 record and a 6.00 ERA, Lipscomb righty Hunter Brothers gets the nod on Friday night for the Bisons to take on southpaw Tommy Organ, who is 2-2 with a 2.87 ERA in five starts for UNF.
Saturday’s contest will feature a battle between righthanders Davey Hackett and Kyle Westwood. Hackett is set to his sixth start of the year with a 1-3 mark and a 7.04 ERA while Westwood enters the weekend with a 4.24 ERA and 3-0 record.
The series concludes on Sunday as Lipscomb righty Will Blalock takes on lefty Michael Renner. Blalock is set to take the hill for the sixth time this season with a 0-1 mark and a 5.06 ERA. Renner boasts an A-Sun best 0.68 ERA with a 3-0 record.
The top hitting team in the A-Sun, the Ospreys hold a 13-8 lead in the all-time series.
