NASHVILLE, TENN – It wasn’t his last game on the court inside Allen Arena because the Lipscomb University Bisons will host the Atlantic Sun Championship next week, but Michael Lusk certainly put on a Senior Day show Saturday against North Florida barely missing a triple-double.

Lusk had 21 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists in Lipscomb’s 90-69 win.

“He was terrific,” Lipscomb head coach Scott Sanderson said.  “He rebounded, scored, passed the ball, and guarded well.”

Lipscomb enters the A-Sun tournament Thursday as the No. 4 seed riding an eight game win streak.

Sanderson praised Lusk for his leadership during the streak, which is Lipscomb’s longest win streak since the 2000-01 season and its longest ever against NCAA opponents.

“We have had a lot of guys that have played well, but he is the main guy that has stepped up his play the most on both ends of the floor to help us go to the next level,” Sanderson said.

The Lipscomb basketball family also honored senior forward Thomas Pfaff.  A great low post defender, Pfaff was praised by Sanderson for his effort in games and in practice.

“He’s the best low post defender around,” Sanderson said.  “He’s made Adnan Hodzic a better player for us by playing strong defense against him every day in practice.  He gives us great energy off the bench and has been a very good player for us.”

Hodzic posted 21 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for the Bisons.  Brandon Brown added 10 points.

North Florida took its only lead of the game on the opening possession of the game.  Lipscomb held a 49-24 advantage at the half.

“I liked our energy today,” Sanderson said.  “We moved the ball well.  We shot the ball well and we were pretty good defensively.”

Lipscomb took a 29-point lead, its largest of the game, with 5:53 left.  North Florida responded with a 14-1 run to bring the game back to a 16-point spread with 2:49 remaining.

“In the second half we played a little sloppy,” Sanderson said.  “I wasn’t excited about that but all-in-all the last three or four weeks we have been pretty good on both ends of the court.”

Cortez Riley led North Florida with 19 points.  Matt Sauey had 11 points and eight rebounds.

Lipscomb in 16-13, 12-8 in the Atlantic Sun.  North Florida finishes its season 8-21, 6-13 in the A-Sun.
