Freshman forward Malcolm Smith was honored Tuesday as the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week for the week of Nov. 29 to Dec. 5. He averaged 19 points and 8.5 rebounds as the Bisons split a pair of conference games.
Smith had a career-high 22 points in Lipscomb's 79-72 loss to Mercer Thursday. He was 10-of-10 at the free throw line. It was the 5th time in the NCAA era a Bison was perfect from the line with ten or more attempts.
Saturday Smith had his first career double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds in Lipscomb's 75-52 win against Kennesaw State.
It was his first Newcomer of the Week award. Belmont's Kerron Johnson was named the Player of the Week.
