NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Lipscomb Athletics will host the 3rd Annual Adoption Rally this Saturday, Feb. 8 in conjunction with the men’s basketball game against ETSU. Game time is set for 4 p.m. at Lipscomb’s Allen Arena. Tickets are $10 each and 100% of the ticket sales revenue will go to 14 families that are in the process of adoption. They include:

John and Nancy Badalamenti – adopting 5-year-old girl from China

Chase and Courtney Baker – adopting from Democratic Republic of the Congo

Daniel and Kourtney Brownlow – adopting Malachi from Lesotho

Anthony and Jill Casassa – adopting 9-year-old boy Jacques from Democratic Republic of the Congo

Steve and Aimee Dukes – adopting girl from China

Kevin and Jonna Yarbrough- adopting girl from Ethiopia

Over $43,000 has been raised for 18 adopting families in the program’s first two years. This year’s 14 families are at various stages of the adoption process, which can many times seem like an out-of-control roller coaster.

Brent and Abby Rosser, both Lipscomb University alumni, live in Murfreesboro with their three children: Lucy, Ella, and Knox. They began the process to adopt from the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the summer of 2011. They were matched to their son, Ezra (3), the following spring.

“Unfortunately, the Congolese government suspended all adoptions in September 2013, halting us from bringing Ezra home,” said Brent. “Our family now eagerly waits for the DRC to allow us to complete our adoption.”

For the sixth consecutive year, the 501st Legion of Stormtroopers will be on hand Saturday. They will be in various Star Wars costumes and available for photos with fans.
