Wednesday, December 19, 2012 MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Looking to build on the momentum from Tuesday night’s thrilling, comeback win at Austin Peay, the Lipscomb men’s basketball team is set for a nonconference tangle with Memphis at the FedEx Forum in Memphis. The in-state battle airs on Fox Sports South with a 7 p.m. tipoff. The Bisons look to continue the balanced attack from Tuesday night that saw all five starters finish in double figures. Redshirt freshman center Stephen Hurt led the way against the Governors with a 23-point, 18-rebound night that landed him on ESPN.com’s short list of top performers. Sophomore forward Martin Smith continues to lead the Bisons with a 13.3 points-per-night average. He is joined in double figures by twin brother Malcom (11.5 ppg), Hurt (10.6 ppg) and Deonte Alexander (10.3). Hurt’s 18-rebounds, second most in a game for a Bison in the Division I era, moved him to the team lead on the boards averaging 7.9 rebounds per game, just ahead of Khion Sankey’s 7.2 mark. Winners of five of their last six games, Memphis boasts a balanced scoring approach as well with four players that average double figures. Joe Jackson leads the way for the Tigers with averaging a dozen points each night. Along with coverage on Fox Sports South, the game will air on 102.5 The Game. The Lyons Chevrolet, Buick, GMC pregame show gets underway at 6:45 p.m. |
