When cross country teams near the end of the season there are usually a number of walking wounded.
Such was the case for the Lipscomb Bisons team Saturday at the NCAA Division I South Regional at the Lambert Acres Golf Course in Maryville, Tenn.
Viruses and injuries reduced the Bisons team to only four runners, knocking them out of the team competition.
Ryan Chastain, a member of the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team from Mitchell, Ind., was the top finisher for the Bisons, covering the 10-kilometer course in a time of 34:15.6, a 79th place finish.
Sophomore Jordan Wilson, from Brentwood, Tenn., finished 106th with a time of 34:51.9.
Freshman David Wolfe, from Nashville, was 125th with a time of 35:47.0.
Junior Tim Cotton from Louisville, Ky., finished 152nd with a time of 38:12.7.
"I was pleased with the way Ryan, David and Jordan ran," Lipscomb coach Karen Robichaud said. "It was a great experience for them.
"We had several runners who were either sick or injured. That is typical for this time of the year in cross country, but we don't have the depth that other teams have."
