SPRINGFIELD, La. – At the end of the first day and 36 holes, the Lipscomb men’s golf team is in 10th place at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate in Springfield, La.
The Bisons were in fourth place after the first round but a 319 on the second time through the course dropped Lipscomb to a 614 total.
“The morning round was very close to where we need to be,” Lipscomb head coach Will Brewer said. “Blanton Farmer, Ryan Terry and Taylor Combs were impressive and were focused very well.
“During our afternoon round we made some early execution errors and a couple of poor decisions and those placed more pressure on our putting. We putted very poorly in the second round. It is becoming more redundant, but we are getting closer to putting a good tournament together.”
Lipscomb is led by Farmer who is in 24th place. Farmer shot a 70 on the first 18 holes and 80 on the second time through. Ryan Terry is just behind in a tie for 25th after shooting a 72 and 79.
Other Bison scores include Combs shooting a 156 for 43rd place and Paul Klein-Kracht and Dustin Wilder tied for 44th with a 157.
The Bisons return to the course on Tuesday to finish out the 54-hole tournament.
“Tomorrow is another opportunity to grow, learn and mature,” Brewer said. “We are hopeful and confident the learning process will continue.
