NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb men’s soccer team travels to Birmingham, Ala., for a 7 p.m. contest with UAB on Saturday night.

Coming off the Mafaioza’s Belmont Invitational, the Bisons have a 2-6-0 record. The Bisons dropped a 2-1 overtime match to Bradley and fell 3-1 to Central Connecticut State after a late goal denied the comeback attempt. After scoring the first two goals of his career the weekend before, Ethan Summers added another tally against Bradley while Deven Bahadoorsingh notched his first goal of the season against CCSU.

With two more contests before the start of Atlantic Sun play, Summers ranks third in the league with seven points from his three goals and one assist. Summers also ranks third in goals scored in his breakout senior season.

UAB enters the contest 4-2-2, having not lost a game in their previous three matches. Coming off 2-0 victories over Clemson and Washington and a 2-2 tie with Fairleigh Dickinson have placed the Blazers as the first team out of the top-25 according to the NSCAA national soccer poll.

Defender Reed Matte was named to the Preseason All-Conference USA team while Kofi Gvawu leads the team with four goals on 19 shots. Goalkeeper Raphael Ville has 36 saves with eight goals against and a 0.93 goals against average.

Following Saturday’s contest, the Bisons travel up the road for the “Battle of the Boulevard” on Thursday, Sept. 27 against Belmont at 5 p.m.
