Ben Page and Garrett McLaughlin both scored second half goals as the Lipsomb Bisons rallied to beat Gardner-Webb 2-1 on the road Sunday afternoon. It was the first A-Sun win of the season for the Bisons. Both teams alternated putting on the pressure offensively in the first half. Bisons goaltender Jake Goergen made a couple of key saves before allowing a goal by Richard Godfrey at 41:50. In the second half Page, a senior forward, tied the game high with five shots, scored off of a deflection in front of the goal at 53:40. McLaughlin, a freshman defender, scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at 74:05 when he scored off of pass into the box by Jorge Suarez. The Bisons outshot Gardner-Webb 14-13. Goergen made five saves for the Bisons. Goalkeeper Dave Geraci made four saves for Gardner-Webb. The Bisons are 2-6-2, 1-1-1 in the A-Sun. Gardner-Webb is 1-9-1 overall. |
