The Lipscomb Bisons soccer team is going to be challenged early and often this season with an exhibition game at Louisville Aug. 21 and the regular season opener at Southern Methodist Sept. 4 as two of the highlights on a challenging schedule.

Several incoming players could give the Lipscomb Bisons an offensive boost this season. One of those newcomers near the top of the list for Bisons' coach Charles Morrow will be Nick DeSalvatore, a forward from Brentwood High School in Brentwood, Tenn.

Juan Pacheco finished his high school career with 40 goals and 12 assists his senior season. He was named the 2010 Cobb County Boys Soccer Player of the Year by the Marietta Daily Journal. Nick Bibb earned Hoover/South Region Player of the Year honors from the Birmingham News.

The Bisons soccer team played ETSU for the second time in a little more than a week, but the outcome was the same, a 3-0 loss. The Bisons, the No. 6-seed in the Atlantic Sun Tournament, were eliminated Saturday afternoon at No. 3-seed ETSU.

The Lipscomb Bisons soccer team has been named one of the top 20 “Most Improved” Teams in NCAA Division I based on their 2008 season. It is the second time in the last three years they have earned this distinction.
