Sunday, October 11, 2009The Lipscomb Bisons appeared to be on their way to their first Atlantic Sun win of the season Sunday afternoon, but a surge in the final 2:24 of the second half gave Florida Gulf Coast a 2-1 victory in Fort Myers, Fla.
Miguel DaSilva struck first for the Bisons at 37:39 of the first half. Andrew Chamberlain passed the ball to DaSilva from the right side. DaSilva hit the shot, his third goal of the season, from approximately five yards out.
The Bisons defense held tight until Florida Gulf Coast capitalized on a header directly off of a corner kick at 87:34 to tie the game. They added another header, directly off a free kick, for the game winner from 35 yards out with 27 seconds left to play.
The Bisons were out-shot 10-5 with both teams credited with four shots on goal.
DaSilva led the team with three shots, all shots on goal.
Brent McGee went the distance in goal for the Bisons, making two saves.
The teams were even in corner kicks with five each.
The Bisons are 3-8-2 overall, 0-3-1 in the A-Sun. Florida Gulf Coast is 5-5-1, 3-1-0 in the conference.
The Bisons return home this weekend to play a pair of Atlantic Sun games. They will face North Florida Friday night at 7:30 and Jacksonville Sunday afternoon at 2:30.
