NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb men’s soccer team welcomes Belmont, Elon and Oral Roberts to the Lipscomb Soccer Complex this weekend for the Hyatt Place Select Lipscomb Invitational.
The Bisons (1-3-0, 0-0-0 ASUN) are coming off a weekend that delivered their first win of the season and a hard-fought loss at the University of Central Arkansas Invitational.
Lipscomb picked up the victory over Central Arkansas 1-0 as Omar Djabi delivered on his first career goal. Taking a pass from defender Ethan Summers, Djabi took a shot from the right side of the goal, 15-yards out, placing the ball in the back of the net.
In the Bisons second game, a defensive battle, LU fell 1-0 to Missouri State. Each team combined for just eight shots in the contest. Djabi and Summers were both named to the All-Tournament Team for their efforts.
Elon, picked fourth in the Southern Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, enters the weekend with a 1-1-0 record, most recently coming off a 3-1 victory over Campbell. Chris Thomas and Gabe Latigue have two goals for the Phoenix while Thomas has added two assists to go along with a team-high ten shots. Both were chosen as members of the SoCon Preseason All-Conference Team. Goalkeeper Nathan Dean has given up five goals while making eight saves, for a .583 save percentage.
Oral Roberts, a participant in last weekend’s UCA Invitational, enters this weekend 0-3-0 after falling 1-0 to Missouri State and 3-0 to Central Arkansas. Tom Adams scored the lone goal of the season for the Golden Eagles. Cody Lofgren and Johnny Chavez have four shots on the season.
