The Lipscomb men’s soccer team looks to rebound Thursday when it travels to Atlanta, Ga., to face Georgia State University in a 5 p.m. game.
Coming off a disappointing loss at home to Central Arkansas on Sunday, the Bisons (3-3-1) will look to win their second road game of the year.
Omar Djabi is the statistical leader for the Bisons with four goals, one assist and nine points in seven games. His four goals are tied for second in the Atlantic Sun Conference and 32nd nationally.
After scoring a goal last weekend in the Hyatt Place Select Invitational, Luke Gearin is second on the team with two goals scored and four total points.
Freshman Micah Bledsoe has recorded every decision in the net for the Bisons while stopping 26 balls for a .722 save percentage. Bledsoe also has one shutout to his credit.
The match will be the seventh meeting between Lipscomb and GSU. Georgia State leads the all-time series 6-0, claiming a 1-0 victory in 2011 in Nashville.
On Thursday, GSU (1-5-1) will play its first home game in almost a month when they lost 1-0 to Liberty on Aug. 30.
The Panthers are coming off a weekend that saw them gain their first victory of the season. On Friday they beat Seattle University 2-1, before battling to a 1-1 draw in two overtimes against the 6th ranked Washington Huskies on Sunday.
For the season, GSU has combined to score only six goals in seven games while being outshot 100-66.
Senior midfielder Jamal Keene leads the team with three goals and six points. All of Keene’s goals have come in three of the last four matches for the Panthers.
The Bisons will need to pick their spots when going for a goal as GSU’s junior goalie, CJ Cochran, stands at 6-5. Cochran has recorded all decisions on the year while giving up 13 goals to 26 stops for a .667 save percentage.
On Sunday Sept. 29, the Bisons travel to Springfield, Mo. to take on Missouri State (4-1-1) for a 2 p.m. kick-off.
