MACON, Ga. – For the third-straight week, Lipscomb’s Tucker Peabody was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Track Athlete of the Week.
Peabody earned his fourth-career honor by crushing the school record in the 200-meter dash at the Vanderbilt Invite last weekend. Peabody’s winning time of 20.69 seconds not only improved his lead in the A-Sun performance charts but also gave him the 10th quickest time in the nation.
“Obviously I am really proud of what he has done the last couple of weeks,” Lipscomb sprint coach Marcus Evans said. “He has been maturing and that is something that we have been looking for from him.”
Peabody has now lowered his 200-meter dash time in the last three meets. The improvement comes from hard work and focusing on his starts.
“To have the improvement he has had in the last two weeks is phenomenal,” Evans said. “He has been working hard. We have been working on the start because we know he has great tail speed but he can improve out of the blocks.”
Peabody picked up his second victory of the meet in the 100-meter dash. His time of 10.63 seconds was good enough for a win by six-hundredths of a second.
Lipscomb takes this weekend off before returning to action on May 5 at the Billy Hayes Invite in Bloomington, Ind.
