MACON, Georgia – Lipscomb track and field runners Tucker Peabody and Kenny Smith were named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Academic Team, announced Wednesday.
"We have a proud tradition of academic and athletic excellence,” said Bill Taylor, director of track and field.”
Peabody, a biology major, picked up the honor with a GPA of 3.45 while Smith, a law, justice, and society major, made the cut with a GPA of 3.52.
Smith contributed to the 4x400-meter relay team’s second-place finish at the Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships in Jacksonville, Florida.
The team clocked in with a time of 3:14.19.
Peabody was sidelined with an injury and was unable to compete in the conference championships.
Both Peabody and Smith took part in the 4x400-meter relay that broke the school record early in the season finishing with a time of 3:13.23.
This is the third year Peabody has been named to the team and the second year for Smith.
Taylor said, “They all continue to raise the bar for Lipscomb Track and Lipscomb Athletics.”
