NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The women’s basketball staff has been finalized as Lady Bisons head coach Greg Brown announces the hiring of Cara Hyatt as assistant coach for the program.

“Cara brings experience at a championship level recruiting and coaching,” Brown said. “She brings strong ties to the community. She has family here and she was a camper here. She understands the culture in what we are trying to do.”

Hyatt is excited to join the staff with coach Brown and assistants Jada Mincy and John Wild.

“I think they are a great staff,” Hyatt said. “They all have a lot of energy. I think this is a great fit for me, all of our personalities mesh.”

Hyatt joins Lipscomb’s staff after spending the last two seasons at Southern Mississippi as an assistant coach.

Prior to Southern Miss, Hyatt spent three years at Jones County Junior College. Previously, the head coach at Northeast Jones High School, Hyatt compiled a 53-18 record and was a semi-finalist in the 4A State Tournament.

Hyatt played two seasons at Jones County Junior College and completed her eligibility at Mississippi College while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She earned her master’s degree in business management in 2006 from Colorado Technical University graduating magna cum laude.

“I feel that recruiting is one of the top priorities as far as what coach Brown would like for me to do,” Hyatt said. “I think it is going to be an awesome opportunity for me to come in and put in what I know about recruiting and what I have a high energy level for.”

Coach Brown is eager to utilize her strengths of recruiting and the intangibles that go along with it.

“She knows how to organize a staff,” Brown said. “So much of recruiting is contacts and the ability to communicate but it is also strategy and organization. She will bring all four elements to the staff.”
