NASHVILLE, Tenn. - For the first time in the NCAA era, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team will host the “Battle of the Boulevard against Belmont, without the Bruins being in the same conference. Tip-off for Saturday is slated for 6:30 p.m. in Allen Arena.
The Lady Bisons, returning home after spending the last 18 days on the road, are looking for their first win (0-5) of the season, after falling 68-46 at Ole Miss Thursday night.
Freshman Presley Stastny continued her impressive run in the early portion of the season with a career-high 15 points while Jana Wright posted a season high of seven points.
In a classic tale of two halves, Lipscomb controlled the better part of the first half, before being unable to sustain the energy into the second half. The Lady Bisons were outscored 41-22 in the second stanza.
The Bruins enter 2-5 and are on a two-game skid. Having last played on Tuesday, Belmont fell 61-53 to IUPUI in Nashville.
For the season, Katie Brooks and Jordan Coleman lead the Bruins attack at 10.3 points per game each while Coleman averages a double-double with 10.4 rebounds a night.
The Belmont attack averages 56.6 points per game while snagging 36 rebounds a contest. In contrast, the Bruins give up 63.7 points a night while being outrebounded by four.
Saturday’s ‘Boulevard’ game will also feature the first battle for first-year head coach Greg Brown.
After having played three games in six days, the Lady Bisons will have a short layoff before returning to Allen Arena on Sunday, Dec. 9, for a 2 p.m. contest against Jacksonville State.
