MACON, Ga. – Continuing to manhandle opponents on the inside, Lipscomb redshirt freshman Stephen Hurt has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference “Newcomer of the Week” for the third time in the past four weeks the league announced on Tuesday.
The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native notched a pair of double-doubles last week including a career-high 30-point effort against Jacksonville last Wednesday. Hurt added 11 rebounds against the Dolphins for his fourth double-double of the season before a 17-point, 13-rebound output in the Bisons win against ETSU.
For the week, Hurt averaged 17.7 points per game behind shooting 57.1 percent from the field. The center also hauled in 8.7 rebounds per game and went 21-for-24 (.875) from the charity stripe.
