NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Most of the time the unknown causes fear, but in the case of Lipscomb tennis coach Andrew Harris the unknown is intriguing as the Lady Bisons open their 2013 spring season.
Tuesday morning, at 11, the Lady Bisons will head to the west part of the state to face Memphis at The Racquet Club of Memphis. This is the fifth meeting between the two schools. Memphis has won the previous four matches.
The Lady Bisons have added four new players to the roster since last spring - freshman Melissa Kromer from Mahlberg, Germany; sophomore Shilpa Naruka from Chandigarh, India; freshman Reagan Panovec, Jackson, Tenn.; and freshman Lorena Djuknic from Zagreb, Croatia.
Despite their youth, Harris is counting on the four newcomers to help elevate the quality of play this season.
“They bring much experience and determination in continuing to move the needle and level of expectations for this team,” Harris said. “The non-conference season is going to be critical for this team as we begin to process the lineup and what exactly needs to happen heading into the conference season.
“I am faithful in the progression of this team, and what they are continuing to build. Right now our main focus is gaining clarity on the lineup.”
Harris is entering this season with great anticipation, but he admits there are more questions than answers.
“It’s going to be a great spring,” Harris said. “I can’t wait to play Memphis and get it underway."
