NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After averaging 26 points-per-game last week, Lipscomb men’s basketball senior guard Deonte Alexander has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week for his efforts.
The Nashville native opened the week with a career-high 29-point effort in a come-from-behind overtime win at Florida Gulf Coast on Thursday night. With only two points at halftime, Alexander went to work in the second half scoring 19 points before scoring the first eight points of overtime to secure the road win for the Bisons.
Alexander followed up his outing against the Eagles with a 23-point effort at Atlantic Sun Conference leader Stetson on Saturday.
For the week, Alexander hit 10-of-18 from beyond the arch and 20-of-34 from the field.
The TSWA award is presented weekly to the top collegiate player in the state of Tennessee.
