MACON, Ga. – Lipscomb track and field junior Dani Walker was named the Atlantic Sun Track Athlete of the Week after her dominating performance at the Niswonger Invite in Johnson City, Tenn., last weekend.
Walker, a native of Wichita, Kan., got her weekend started by crossing the finish line second in the 800m in 2:11.21, a time that beat the previous school-record by four seconds.
On Saturday, Walker anchored the Lady Bisons distance medley relay coming from behind for the victory in the final two laps. Walker ran a 4:55 split in the mile as her portion of the relay.
Just a short time after the improbable comeback, Walker led from start to finish in the 3000m, crossing in a time of 10:12.23, more than two seconds in front of second place.
The Lipscomb track and field squad returns to action Feb. 2 at the Tennessee State Invitational.
