DAYTON, Ohio - After splitting its last two road games, the Lipscomb women’s basketball team travels to Dayton, Ohio to take part in the Wright State Invitational Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Bisons (2-6) will play the opening game of the invite against Bradley (2-6) in a 3:30 p.m. tilt on Friday. Depending on its outcome, Lipscomb will face Gardner-Webb (6-3) or host Wright State (8-3) on Saturday.

Friday’s meeting with Missouri Valley member, Bradley, will mark the first time in school history the two programs have faced-off. The Lady Braves began the season with wins over Illinois and Southeastern Missouri State before losing the next six, including losses to Kentucky and Missouri.

The Lady Braves are led offensively by Michelle Young’s 17.4 points per game. Young is shooting 43.6 percent from the field in just under 32 minutes per game.

Kelsey Budd and Kelly Frings averages 14.6 and 11.5 points per game. Catie O’Leary is the leading rebounder, grabbing 8.9 per game to go with her 9.5 points.

Bradley averages 71.4 points a game as a team while giving up 88.4. It is just 1-3 away from home this season and will be playing its fourth road game in the past five games.

Lipscomb was lights out this past Saturday in Jacksonville, Ala., but cooled off against the rugged defense of No. 16 Georgia on Tuesday.

Both of the Lady Bisons wins have come away from Allen Arena this season and looks to hit the holiday break with some momentum.

Ashely Southern has been consistent all year long for Lipscomb head coach Greg Brown, collecting six double-doubles while averaging 14.9 points and 12.9 rebounds per game.

Chandler Cooper’s ability to shoot the long ball has aided the Lady Bisons offensively since becoming eligible. After a career-high 27 points against Jacksonville State, where she drained seven from long distance, Cooper followed up with only three baskets in Athens and scored a season-low seven points.

Cooper still leads the Atlantic Sun in made 3-pointers per game with three. She is the third leading scorer on the team with 14.7 per game.

Danay Fothergill has done it all for Lipscomb in her two games this season. She leads the team with 17 points per game. She is also averaging 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steal per game.

Sara Bliss is the only other Lady Bison to average double-figures at 11.8. Bliss leads the A-Sun with an 89 percent average from the charity stripe.

Lipscomb is scoring 65.5 points per game while giving up 82.1

Host Wright State will play Gardner-Webb at 6 p.m. (CST) Friday.
