The Bisons dropped a double-header today in Boiling Springs, N.C. The Bisons lost game one 7-5, and lost game two 6-3 and will finish up the three game series tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m, as they will close out their regular season schedule.
Preston Embrey led the Bisons offensively in the two game set as he went a combined 5-for-9 against the Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb. Embrey scored two runs and drove in three in game one. Embrey improved his batting average to a. 284.
Robby Smithson took the mound in game one and threw 2 innings of work as he gave up six hits and five earned runs and walked three batters. Cody Gossett who closed out the game then relieved Smithson in the 3 rd inning.
Gossett threw 6 innings and gave scattered five hits and gave up one earned run. Gossett was credited with the loss and is now 0-1 on the season with an earned run average of 7.50.
In game two Brett McCullough took the mound and threw 7 innings and scattered six hits and gave up six earned runs. McCullough was given the loss and is now 2-7 with an earned run average of 7.66.
Logan Powell relieved McCullough in the 8th inning and gave up zero hits and zero runs as he threw one inning of work.
Tadd Brewer and Ryan Mitchell each had a three hit game between the two games. Mitchell went 3-for-5 at the plate in game one of the double-header. Mitchell is now batting .298. Brewer went 3-for-5 in game two and is now batting .339.
The Bisons dropped to 22-33, and 7-22 in the A-Sun. The Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb improved to 27-27, and 15-14 in the A-Sun.
The Bisons will look to end the season on a high note, as they will play their last game of the season tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Boiling Springs, N.C.
