In a game featuring six Lipscomb pitchers, the Vanderbilt Commodores used a nine run sixth to blow the game open, leaving the Bisons with a 16-3 loss on Wednesday, April 12.
The Commodores opened the scoring with three runs in the second. The Bisons got two of the runs back in the bottom of the inning. Zac Miller reached on a fielding error leading off the second for Lipscomb. The next batter, Ryan Mitchell, drilled a homerun to right to put the Bisons within one.
The Commodores added two more runs in both the third and fourth innings to give Vanderbilt a 7-2 lead.
Right-hander Josh Smith relieved Carroll in the top of the sixth, but could not get out of the inning. In 1/3 of an inning, he gave up seven runs, six earned, on four hits and two walks.
Ryan Mitchell led the offense with two hits and two RBI's.
The Bisons are back in action when they travel to Buies Creek, NC, to take on Campbell, April 14-15.
