The Bisons could not hold an early four run lead on their way to a 12-5 loss on Tuesday, April 25, at Middle Tennessee State.
Justin Sanders got the Bisons on the board in the first with an RBI single to give Lipscomb a 1-0 lead.
The Bisons expanded the lead with two more runs in the third. Allen Bolden led off with a single to right field. Ryan Mitchell followed with a single to left center to put runners on first and second. Both runners advanced on a balk. Bolden would score on an RBI ground out by Zac Miller. The next batter, Sanders, recorded his second RBI of the game on a single to center, giving the Bisons a 3-0 lead.
The Bisons added another run in the fourth on a solo homerun by Whit Reed.
The Blue Raider's finally got to Bisons' starter Brandon McClurg in the bottom of the fourth. In 3.1 innings of work, McClurg gave up five runs on seven hits.
Reed's bases loaded walk in the eighth inning brought the final run home for Lipscomb.
Mitchell and Sanders led the Bisons on offense with three hits each. Sanders, along with Reed, also recorded two RBI's in the loss.
The loss dropped the Bisons record to 17-23. The Bisons return home on April 28, when they host Gardner-Webb. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
