On Saturday February 18, Lipscomb's indoor track teams made the trip to East Tennessee State University to compete in the first inaugural Atlantic Sun Conference Championship indoor track meet.
"It was a great learning experience for the coaches, runners, and field event people," coach Karen Robichaud said. "We got a glimpse of what the outdoor championship will be like since we will face the same competition. It was a challenge to all because we have never competed on a 320 meter track before so our pacing was a little skewed, and that was represented in our performances."
Although as a team the Bisons and Lady Bisons did not place in the event, there were many personal successes for the Lipscomb participants.
*Danielle Graham finished third in the triple jump with a Lipscomb record 10.96 meters
*Clint Carter won his heat in the 800
*Ruth Mick placed third overall
*Elizabeth Schall won her heat in the 800 meter with a time of 2:19 and placed ninth overall
"It was a grueling race, especially since both had competed in the 3 K the day before," Robichaud said.
With the indoor track season now completed, Robichaud is proud of her team and their performances.
"All of the athletes represented our school well," Robichaud said. "I am excited about the implications for the outdoor championship."
