Sept. 24, 2005 - Both Lipscomb University cross-country teams placed in the top third of their meets at the Greater Louisville Classic at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park on Saturday.
In spite of inclement weather in their south Texas homes, Lone Star Bisons runners prevailed in the midst of adversity.
Zac Yanis, senior captain, led the stampeding Bisons to a fifth place finish against 15 teams. He was able to focus despite destructive forces in his home town of El Campo, Texas. Yanis's time of 27:35 placed eighth overall in the race.
Similarly, freshman, Clint Carter from Angelton, Texas overcame anxieties about home to place second for the Bisons with a time of 28:42.
In women's competition junior Samantha Wood scored points to assist the women in a 10th place finish out of 32 talented teams though turmoil has ensued in her El Campo residence.
"I am so proud of the resilience and strength of spirit these runners possess," said Coach Karen Robichaud. "They inspire the rest of us."
