Lipscomb's Lady Bisons started a two-game swing through Georgia on a less than happy note, losing 74-57 at Georgia State Thursday at the GSU Sports Arena.
It was the first Atlantic Sun Conference loss of the season for the Lady Bisons who fell to 5-1, 8-4 overall. The loss was the first for the Lady Bisons in four meetings with Georgia State . The Lady Bisons also ended a nine-game A-Sun winning streak with the loss.
The Lady Bisons held one lead in the game, 4-2 at 17:37 of the first half. The Lady Bisons trailed 37-20 at the half.
Courtney Boynton led the Lady Bisons in scoring with 17 points, hitting seven-of-11 shots from the field, three-of-seven from 3-point range. Also in double figures was Penny Jones with 11.
Boynton's consecutive free throw streak remained intact. For the third time this season she did not take a free throw in a game.
Patechia Hartman led Georgia State 's attack with a game-high 28 points, 10 assists, three steals and eight rebounds.
The Lady Bisons were out-rebounded in the game by a 53-40 margin. Lindsay Daly and Kaleigh Gossman each grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Lady Bisons on the boards.
The Lady Bisons (21-of-63) shot 33.3 percent from the field. Georgia State hit at a 44.2 percent rate (34-of77).
GeorgiaState is 5-7, 3-2 in the A-Sun.
The Lady Bisons travel to Mercer in Macon ,Ga., Saturday for a 1 p.m. Atlantic Sun game
