Pardon the Lipscomb Lady Bisons basketball team if they don't save any postcards from their two trips to North Carolina this season.
After controlling the first half, the Lady Bisons couldn't overcome a second half rally by Gardner-Webb in a 70-64 loss in Boiling Springs , N.C.
Saturday night the Lady Bisons jumped out to a big first half lead. A 3-point shot by Dana Carrigan gave the Lady Bisons a 21-8 lead with 8:18 left in the half. With 3:13 left before intermission Gardner-Webb closed the gap at 29-20.
Catie Woods hit a 3-pointer for the Lady Bisons for a 32-20 lead, but Gardner-Webb whittled that lead to five with 23 seconds on the clock. Carrigan struck again with a 3-pointer for a 35-27 halftime edge.
Gardner-Webb took control in the second half. With less than eight minutes left to play they took over the lead and never gave it back.
Freshman Kaleigh Grossman led the Lady Bisons in scoring for the third time this month. She also earned her second double-double of the season, hauling down a game-high 11 rebounds.
Courtney Boynton, with 12 points, was the only other Lady Bisons player in double figures.
Gardner-Webb placed four players in double figures. Sequenta Blsckman led all scorers with 17 points followed by Brittany Harmon with 16, Shameka Smith with 15 and Candyse Kelly with 10.
The Lady Bisons, who have qualified for the Atlantic Sun Tournament, are 13-12, 10-8 in the conference. Gardner-Webb is still seeking a tournament berth with a 9-16 record, 7-11 in the A-Sun
