Life on the road has been less than fun for the Lipscomb Lady Bisons basketball team.
Sunday afternoon in the Ball State Credit Union Classic in Muncie, Ind., they fell 77-45 to the Georgetown Hoyas in the consolation game. The loss was the third for the Lady Bisons in as many games this season. All three losses have been on the road, this one at Worthen Arena on the Ball State campus, a neutral site for the second round game,
Kaleigh Gossman hit a jump shot to score the first two points of the game, but the Lady Bisons did not enjoy their lead for very long. Georgetown quickly took control of the game and had a45-31 advantage in the first half. The second half, which had been a bright spot for the Lady Bisons in Saturday's 83-53 loss to Ball State, was dominated by Georgetown with a 32-14 scoring advantage.
The Lady Bisons shot 41.4 percent from the field in the first half, but slipped to 26.1 percent in the second half, a 34.6 percent success rate overall.
Georgetown placed four players in double figures with a 43.4 percent success rate from the field. Kierrah Marlow led the way with a game-high 23 points. Katrina Wheeler finished with a double-double with a game-high 13 rebounds and 11 points. Kristin Heidloff also scored 11 points. Bethany Leseur chipped in 10.
Georgetown held a 49-31 edge on the boards.
The Lady Bisons are home Tuesday night to face Memphis. It will be their first regular season game in Allen Arena this season.
