The opening weekend of the 2005 soccer season was a dreary one all the way around for Lipscomb's Lady Bisons.
Sunday afternoon lightning and rain forced a delay of more than 1 ½ hours in the start of the Lady Bisons game with visiting Grambling State.
Despite the Lady Bisons keeping the ball in Grambling's end of the field for the majority of both halves, they lost 3-0 to fall to 0-2 on the season.
Grambling took a 1-0 lead in the first half when Ashley Bryant scored off a corner kick with 17:28 left on the clock before intermission.
In the second half Grambling rallied late with Rebecca Francis scoring off a pass from Obafemii Alao with 5:45 remaining in the game. Tiffani Brisco dribbled in the final goal of the game with 3:11 on the clock.
Bethany Copeland was in goal for Lipscomb. She made three saves. Grambling goaltender Sherrice Fox was kept busy making eight saves, four in each half.
Grambling is 1-1.
The Lady Bisons opened the season Friday night with a visit from Middle Tennessee from the Sunbelt Conference. After lightning stopped that game, the two teams played Saturday morning with Middle Tennessee winning 8-0.
