Macon, Ga. -Lipscomb's Sara Meek has been named the Atlantic Sun Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Meek pitched to two strong performances against A-Sun foes last week.
Meek, a junior right-hander from Brentwood, Tenn., finished the week 2-0 in conference play, earning complete game wins over Campbell and Gardner-Webb. Meek started the week with a four-hit performance against Campbell, striking out two and allowing just one earned run in the 4-1 victory. The junior followed that up on Sunday with a two-hit performance against Gardner-Webb. Meek allowed just one unearned run, while striking out four in the 2-1 win.
With the wins, Lipscomb assured itself no worse than the No. 5 seed in the upcoming A-Sun Championship and could move as high as the #3 seed, depending on the outcome of the UCF/Stetson game later this week. Meek is now 9-6 on the season with a 3.25 ERA.
This marks the second time this season that Meek has earned A-Sun Pitcher-of-the-Week honors.
Florida Atlantic (35-30, 14-6 A-Sun) will conclude its regular season when the Owls play host to FIU on Wednesday, while Lipscomb (26-22, 13-7) will host No. 7 Alabama on Sunday. The 2005 A-Sun Softball Championship begins on May 12th in Boca Raton, Fla., with the top six teams qualifying.
