The Lady Bisons split with Florida Atlantic on Thursday night in Boca Raton, Fla. The Lady Bisons lost game one 6-0 and won game two 1-0.
In game two starting right-handed pitcher Sara Meek threw her sixth complete game of the season and her second shutout of the season. Meek gave up three hits and fanned 12 batters while only walking two. Meek is now 5-4 and has an earned run average of 2.92. Meek is tied with Danielle Catalano is strikeouts. They each have 49 for the season.
Kate Richards scored the game winning run after slapping a lead off double down the right-field line in the 6th inning. Leigh Little then hit a sacrifice bunt to the third baseman to advance Richards to third base. Julia Davidson hit a ground ball to third base and Richards scored on a throwing error by the third baseman to give the Lady Bisons a 1-0 lead and the win.
The Lady Bisons managed three hits in game two but scored one decisive run off of one Florida Atlantic error. Florida Atlantic scored zero runs off of three hits.
Jennifer Cannon, Alysha Forsythe, and Richards were the only Lady Bisons to get hits in game two.
The Lady Bisons are now 14-13 overall and 2-2 in the A-Sun. Florida Atlantic is now 20-24 and 1-1 in the A-Sun.
The Lady Bisons will host Tennessee Tech on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Crockett Park.
