Lipscomb University softball coach Kristin Peck has announced the signing of second baseman Angelica Wade from Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Wade, 5-foot-4, is a three-time All-State selection from Riverdale High School. She was named first team in 2006 and second team in 2005 and 2004. She was named first team All-Region in 2006 and second team in 2005. She is also a four-time All-District selection.
Wade batted .405 as a senior from the lead-off position with 37 runs batted in. She slammed 12 doubles and five triples. She also stole 27 bases.
In 2006 she was named MVP in Rutherford County by the Daily News-Journal. In 2005 she was named Offensive Player of the Year in the county by Rutherford A.M,
During her time with Riverdale the softball team was the district champion three times and the regional champion twice.
Wade has been named to play in the inaugural Tennessee-Kentucky softball series which starts June 28 at Western Kentucky University. The series is best-of-three format.
Wade was named to "Who's Who Among America's High School Students" in 2006. She also a senior homecoming attendant and Most Athletic class superlative.
"I chose Lipscomb because it was a welcoming environment," said Wade. "The school is just big enough to where everyone doesn't know you, but each professor you have will know you."
She plans to major in business/education at Lipscomb. She is the daughter of Yvonne and Gerald Wade.
