Sept. 25, 2005 - Don't think for one minute that the Lady Bisons volleyball team has taken any of its pre-conference games lightly, but starting Friday night with a visit from Stetson it's all about earning a spot in the Atlantic Sun Tournament.
Postseason play is what all hard is about.
"I think the pre-conference schedule has been good for us," said Lipscomb Coach Brandon Rosenthal said. "These games have taught us a lot of lessons. We have worked extremely hard. I feel very confident.
"We are taking Monday off. Tuesday we will start putting a couple of more things together. I think we are in great shape. It is go time for us now."
The Lady Bisons still have some non-conference games left on the schedule, but Sunday afternoon's 3-0 loss at Birmingham-Southern was the last match before conference play begins.
The Lady Bisons lost 30-14, 30-27 and 30-24.
"We started off real slow in the first game," said Rosenthal. "In the second game we didn't give up the lead until we got to 26 points. We were point-for-point into the late 20s in games two and three. We put up a good fight. It is a matter of some passing and finishing games."
Lillian Henderson had a match-high 15 digs for Birmingham-Southern. Alex Plummer was credited with a match-high 26 digs. Birmingham-Southern finished with a .306 hitting percentage. The Lady Bisons posted a 157 hitting percentage.
"Without a doubt we have more drive and fight as a team than when we started the season," Rosenthal said. "Our blocking is much better than we expected. It's all a matter of fundamentals."
The Lady Bisons are 3-12. Birmingham-Southern is 7-7.
