Lipscomb University volleyball players Ann Mullins and Cara Wilber were named to postseason honors in the Atlantic Sun Conference Wednesday afternoon.

Mullins, a Nashville resident, was named second-team All-Atlantic Sun, and was also named Libero of the Year for her defensive work. Wilber, from Georgetown, Calif., was named to the All-Freshman Team. Both have also earned A-Sun Player of the Week awards this season.

Mullins, a junior, leads the Lady Bisons with a school record 584 digs. She leads the A-Sun in digs overall with 5.17 per game. She also set a conference record for digs in a four-game match with 43 in a win over Tennessee Tech Sept. 17.

"We knew Ann was going to be a difference maker," said Lipscomb coach Brandon Rosenthal. "We said it from the beginning. For her to receive Libero of the Year is a tremendous honor. She has really changed the attitude of this team. She is one of our main leaders.

"I think probably the bigger honor is she was named Second Team All-Conference. I think that is a testament to who she is and the leadership qualities she brings. The other coaches recognized that a libero, a defensive person, has changed this team pretty drastically."

Wilber, a red shirt freshman outside hitter, is third overall in the A-Sun in kills with 3.75 per game and is second in kills in conference games with 4.33 per game. She is also fourth overall in points in the conference with 4.10 per game and second in points in conference games with 4.70 per game. She leads the Lady Bisons in kills with 345, 3.75 per game.

"Cara has made a huge impact on this team," said Rosenthal. "For a freshman, I am really proud of her. The upside for Cara is huge."
