The Bisons could not hold an early 3-0 lead, as they fell 10-6 at Georgia Southern, on Saturday, March 17.
After going 4-4 in yesterday's game, Ryan Wilkins doubled in his first at bat on Saturday, to lead off the second. Justin Sanders followed with a ground out to second, advancing Wilkins to third. Wilkins would score on an RBI ground out by Branden Cadavid.
The Bisons added two more in the third. Kevin Gavigan led off the inning with a single, before advancing to second when Caleb Joseph was hit by a pitch. Casey Bond layed down a bunt to advance the runners. Shane Simpkins followed with a single up the middle, to give the Bisons a 3-0 lead.
The Eagles would get all three runs back in the bottom of the inning.
Georgia Southern would add three runs in the fifth, two in the sixth, and one in the seventh to break open a 9-3 lead.
The Bisons attempted to rally, scoring two runs in the eighth. Bond led off with a single up the middle, before stealing second. Simpkins followed with a walk. Both runners moved up on a groundout by Ryan Wilkins. Sanders brought the first run of the inning home with a sacrifice fly to left. Another run would cross the plate on a single by Cadavid.
The Eagles got one run back with another run in the bottom of the inning.
The Bisons would add a final run in the ninth on a single by Bond.
Bisons' right-hander, Matt Schnelly, recorded the loss to drop his record to 2-3.
With the loss, the Bisons lowered their record to 13-9.
The Bisons will close out the series with Georgia Southern tomorrow, Sunday, March 18. The game is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m.
Right-hander, Brandon McClurg will take the mound for the Bisons. On the season, McClurg is 2-0 with a 1.33 ERA. In 27 innings, he has allowed just four runs on sixteen hits. He has struck out 23 and opponents are batting just .172 against him.
