Bisons post strong performances in tennis matches at Sewanee

The Lipscomb University Bisons men's tennis team spent a successful weekend on the mountain at the University of the South at Sewanee.

Rounding out the field was Cumberland University. On Friday afternoon, Lipscomb played singles and doubles against the University of the South. Saturday morning, the Bisons played reverse singles against the University of the South. Saturday afternoon, the Bisons played against Cumberland University.

The men's team had a very successful weekend in singles winning 18 of 24 singles matches. Against the University of the South on both Friday and Saturday morning, the Bisons won six of eight matches. Against Cumberland, the Bisons also won six of eight matches.

Individual winners on Friday were: Mike Sherman, David Carrillo, Colten Jones, Andy Mizell, Daniel Carrillo, and William Murrell. Doubles matches on Friday afternoon were won by David Carrillo and Daniel Hangsteffer and Jeff West and Andy Mizell.

On Saturday morning in reverse singles, Mike Sherman, David Carrillo, Daniel Hangsteffer, Colten Jones, Andy Mizell, and Daniel Carrillo won matches. On Saturday afternoon against Cumberland, Mike Sherman, David Carrillo, Daniel Hangsteffer, Colten Jones, Andy Mizell, and Daniel Carrillo won singles matches. David Carrillo and Daniel Hangsteffer won their doubles match against Cumberland.

Bisons players with perfect singles records were Mike Sherman, David Carrillo, Colten Jones, Andy Mizell, Daniel Carrillo, and Casey Hall.

The Bisons will be back in action this weekend at the Steve Barras Tournament hosted by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
