Bisons open track season with sixth place in Belmont Opener

The Lipscomb Bison s cross country team finished sixth out of 11 teams in the Belmont Opener.

The meet was held Sept. 12 at Percy Warner Park in Nashville.

The host Belmont won top honors followed by Vanderbilt in second, Western Kentucky (third), Georgia Tech (fourth) and Austin Peay (fifth).

Finishing after the Bisons were Alabama State in seventh followed by Murray State (eighth), Middle Tennessee (ninth), Tennessee State (10th) and Fisk (11th).

Ryan Chastain was the only top 20 finisher for the Bisons. He was 19th, covering the 5-K course in a time of 15:44.92.

Jordan Wilson finished 26th with a time of 16:00.53. David Wolfe was 47th (16:35.63 and Jacob Nelson was 49th (16:39.75.).

Rounding out the finishers for the Bisons were Andrew Shankles (58th, 16:55.28), Clint Carter (60th, 17:06.44), Tim Cotton (61st, 17:11.59) and Alex Mincey 82nd (19:17.76).

There were 100 runners in the field.
