Right-hander Brandon McClurg has received another honor to add to his recent list of accomplishments, as he was awarded the Southeast Region Performance of the Week award by InsidePitching.com.
McClurg earned the award after no-hitting the Kennesaw State Owls on Saturday, March 28. He struck out ten in the 4-0 victory, while walking just one.
In his last three starts, spanning 23 innings, he has posted a 0.78 ERA while recording three wins and 28 strikeouts.
InsidePitching.com has been in operation for two years. The winner in each division is subject to the nomination and votes of thirty Division I coaches across the country.
Other regional winners include, for the Midwest, Northern Iowa's Nick Kirk who threw a no-hitter against Evansville. In the West, San Diego State University's Stephen Strasberg who shut out Houston while allowing only two hits and striking out 12 last week. For the Great Lakes Region, Valparaiso University's Elliot Gibbs allowed only four hits in his first career shut-out, and finally for the Northeast, St. Joseph University's Randy Mower allowed just three hits in a complete game shut-out.
