ISTANBUL, Turkey _ REACH USA Basketball cruised into tourney play with a 96-37 win over LUMS University of Pakistan. Reach placed seven players in double figures, including Lipscomb University's Michael Teller with 15 and Brandon Brown with 12. With a 3-0 record in pool play, Reach entered the tournament on a roll.
In the first round of the tournament REACH was upset by the Hoge School of Belgium 47-43 in overtime. Leading by seven headed into the fourth, Reach squandered the lead and eventually suffered the upset. Brandon Brown of Lipscomb led the REACH squad with 14 points and six rebounds.
"It's extremely disappointing not to be playing tomorrow," said Lipscomb University assistant coach Jay Walton. "The European style of ball is different than our guys are used to. It takes a while to get used to and we didn't do it today.
"The experience has been awesome though, and hopefully all these guys gained something they can carry over to their seasons."
