Freshman forward Miguel DaSilva earned soccer's version of the hat trick with three goals as the Lipscomb Bisons tied Stetson 3-3 in double overtime Sunday afternoon in DeLand, Fla. in an Atlantic Sun Conference game.
It was third tie of the season for the Bisons and their second in a conference game. They dueled with Belmont to a 0-0 tie.
The Bisons scored all three goals in the first half, but gave up three goals in the second.
DaSilva has four goals in his last two games. He leads the Bisons in goals with seven and points with 14.
"Stetson had trouble with Miguel's pace, but he just dribbled through them," said Lipscomb coach Charles Morrow. "They just couldn't handle him. They were all good goals.
"In the first half we had several players who almost scored. It could have been 4-0 or 5-0."
DaSilva's first goal was scored at 13:32 with an assist from Jorge Suarez. His second and third goals were both unassisted with one at 24:36 and the third at 25:08.
The Bisons were outshot 33-16. Stetson also held a 16- 8 edge in shots on goal.
Senior Lipscomb goalkeeper Jake Goergen made 11 saves.
"Stetson deserved to win the game with the way they played and the chances they had," Morrow said. "Jake did a great job in goal."
The Bisons have clinched their first berth in the Atlantic Sun Tournament. They are 5-6-3 overall, 4-1-2 in the conference. Stetson is 8-4-1, 4-2-1 in the A-Sun.
