The Lady Bisons barely missed closing out the regular season on a winning note, falling 1-0 to Tennessee Tech in a non-conference game Friday night at the Lipscomb Sports Complex.
Prior to the start of the game defender/forward Leisli Lopez was honored as the only senior on the team. She was joined by her mother, Maria, and her brother Juan. She has three brothers and one sister. She began playing soccer as a small child with her brothers and sisters while growing up in Mexico.
"Leisli has been a four-year starter for the Lady Bisons," first-year Lipscomb head coach Jon Ireland said. `She has played a huge role in one of the best seasons in program history."
Leisli dedicated the game to her father, Juab, who passed away last year.
Rachel Martin-Trevino scored the lone goal of the game for Tennessee Tech.
Tennessee Tech, from the Ohio Valley Conference, out shot the Lady Bisons 16-9. Tennessee Tech also held a slight 5-3 advantage on shots on goal.
Lady Bisons goaltender Katie Shelton made four saves.
The Lady Bisons finished the season with a 4-13-1 record, their first year under Ireland.
Tennessee Tech closed out the regular season with a 4-10-4 record overall.
